Q.How does our service work?
A. At Captain Cartridge we pride ourselves on our service. We offer a seamless changeover for businesses, we carry many common items on board ready for a swapover or delivery as a spare. We do not refill many toner cartridges anymore, as better value can often be obtained with the new compatible toner cartridges. Our inkjet refill service is a mobile service, we pull up at your house or premesis and fill and test your cartridges on the spot. We do also carry many pre-refilled cartridges to swapover if our customer is in a rush or prefers different cartridges.
Q. Free delivery? how can you offer that when others charge.
A. We offer free delivery with no minimum order to areas in our regular delivery area. Sometimes we deliver a single $12.00 cartridge. Our delivery vehicles are our shops. We travel to Caloundra, Maroochydore and Kawana regions usually at least once a day and do deliveries in those areas all at once. This minimises fuel costs and totally emiminates rent and associated costs. Areas outside of the boundaries of Twin Waters - Pelican Waters and out to the Bruce Highway, may have a minum order requirement of $50.00. (1 toner). Sometimes we will send to these outside areas by courier if we are unable to service that area in a prompt manner.
Please note, that we will deliver free Australia wide for orders of $50.00 or more, so please tell your interstate friends and businesses about us.
Q. your'e not as cheap as some of those internet suppliers, will you match prices?
A. Yes we will match prices of all of our competitors as long as the product they are offering is of the same quality as what we offer. We have been operating for many years now, and have by trial and error found that not all brands are equal. Most of our generic ink cartridges contain European inks, not Chinese stuff. The better inks contain the essential lubricants and chemicals that are required by the printer to maintain the printhead. The cheap chinese ink is often no better that water with dye in it. We pay more for our product, but have now got a nearly zero failure rate. A few of our customers have been tempted by the cheaper cartridges, but have often come back to us after a while knowing we offer quality and service.
Q. I keep getting hassled by interstate companies trying to sell me cartridges on the phone.
A. Be very aware of these businesses. They will try to take advantage of a receptionist by baffling them with bulls*it and sell them something that is 1. very poor quality, 2. at a very high price (double to triple what we charge), and 3. put you on a contract or auto shipping system. Be very careful of these people. We offer face to face service, and only come round when you request us to.
If you are currently dealing with one of these companies, please give us a call to see how we can give you a better deal. You will be supporting a small local business that believes in honesty and integrity instead of an interstate fraudster.
If they are trying to force you to pay a bill that they have sent when you did not order, then just send it back or tell them to pick it up. If you threaten them with consumer affairs they will usually back down very quickly.
Q. I have been told my cartridges cannot be refilled, why?
A. There are several possible reasons for this. The first is that you may have gone to one of the big brand stores (no names mentioned) and bought one of thier cheap HP or Canon printers for $30-$40. The cartridges in these printers are so small that a refill is not worth the time. Also these printers in many cases will do extra head cleans and use twice as much ink when they detect a refill is used, so we advise against refill or compatibles in these cases. Look for a printer with indivdual ink tanks, (Brother or Canon). The second reason is that the newer models have chips which need to be reset for the fill to work. Sometimes resetters are not available straight away. The third reason is that some compatible cartridges are a different design and are hard to fill or that your cartridge has been filled to our maximum number of fills. Please note, we always try to save you money with fills but sometimes the genuine brands are better for smooth operation.
Q. I have been told I will get more printing out of my refills.
A. Yes this is true in many cases but not all. Some ink cartridges can be filled to almost double thier original capacity because the casing used by the manufacturer is the same as a larger yield cartridge just with less ink in it. Some cartridges will not take extra ink with out leaking so call us to see what we can offer. With the toner cartridges, some are regulated by a computer chip and will stop at a certain point regardless of how much ink is left. Some of our Brother compatibles have a system to bypass this to get the most out of your cartridge, sometimes an extra 2000 or more pages.
Q. I have just inserted my Brother toner cartridge and it still says "toner low" or "toner empty"
A. This happens occasionally with both original brand and compatible products. Sometimes the switching gear does not make contact inside the printer, which makes the prionter think it is still on previous cartridge. We need to either fix it by taking cartrige apart, or replace the cartridge. To continue printing with a printer press the go button 7 times, then call us immediately as it is only a temporary fix to keep you printing for a day. If your printer is a multifuction printer, first open the printer’s front panel, lifting the cover where you can access the toner.
Next press the Clear/Back button. Doing so will pop out a dialogue box “REPLACE DRUM? 1.Yes 2.No”,
With the two options available do not type in either 1 or 2! Instead, type in *00 (asterisk+00) on the printer’s keypad and you should be rewarded with a prompt as “Accepted”. Then call us to fix the cartridge.
Q. My toner says it will print 2600 pages, but I only got 1900 before it said it was empty.
A. All page yields quoted are based on coverage of 5%. This is the industry measuring stick, implimented in the 1990's to allow accurate comparison between models. As times have changed, so have our printing habits, this means our average coverage is now more like 7-10% which means less pages will be printed than the quoted yield. We are still able to give accurate comparisons in running costs using the 5%, but it is not accurate for general usage, as some people will use far more ink per page and others will use far less and get more pages than the quoted yield.
